Squadron Leader Peter Williamson, an English fighter pilot in World War II, has been injured and had to bail out over the English Channel. He awakens to find himself in the hospital and is told that he has been rescued and is in Brighton, England.  Details of his surroundings cause him to become suspicious and his suspicions are confirmed when he sees a sign written in French through the window.
