The work I do: I am a second-grade teacher at John P. Freeman Optional School in Memphis, TN. I work with the Shelby County Schools district. I serve on several boards: National Board Professional Teacher Standards, Honors, and Integrated Parents. I am the first and only teacher to serve on the National Science Foundation Education Human Resources Advisory Board committee.
My connection to the work of Student Achievement Partners: In 2013, I became a Core Advocate because I believe that all students should receive an equitable education. Students Achievement Partners has helped me flourish as a teacher leader by allowing me to have a voice at various tables. They helped train me and support my passion and professional growth in promoting higher standards for all students.
The perspective I bring to the Educator Advisory Board: As an Educator Advisory Board member, I offer innovative advice on equity, STEM, and teacher leadership. Also, I have dynamic perspectives on the underserved and underrepresented population.
