Tara is currently a middle school math teacher in Santa Monica, California, teaching seventh grade and algebra. She has been a teacher for 18 years with experience ranging from preschool to eighth grade, as well as instructional coaching on a district and school level. She also facilitates teacher training on how to implement cooperative learning in the classroom, as well as foundations for teaching math, across the nation. Tara became involved with Core Advocates in 2012 to support and lead the transition to Common Core State Standards and teach and learn from educators across the nation. As a teacher, instructional coach, and parent, she believes that she has to be the change that she wishes to see, providing equitable instruction for all students. Tara holds a bachelor's degree in Biology from Grambling State University, a master’s degree in Education from the University of Cincinnati, a Teacher Licensure Certification from University of Dayton, and intense math coursework from the University of Vermont Mathematics Initiative.
