Bethany Lockhart Johnson

The work I do:  After many years working as a theatre educator and a kindergarten classroom teacher, I am now working as a consultant on curriculum design as well as co-hosting the Math Teacher Lounge, a joint video project with Desmos and Amplify Math. I am also excited about my newest role of mama to a very wiggly little boy. I am hoping he loves continuous learning as much as I do! 

My connection to the work of Student Achievement Partners: I have loved being a part of SAP's Core Advocate program. I also regularly used many Achieve the Core online tools to help me deepen my understanding of the standards and quality instruction. I am thrilled to join the Advisory Board as SAP works to grow and actively build a foundation and practice of equity and inclusion. 

The perspective I bring to the Educator Advisory Board: I am a biracial woman, my mom is black and my dad is white. In my classroom I focused on creating opportunities for student-led, joyful math discovery. I reclaimed math as an adult and am happiest in my work when I can support other educators in gaining tools to speak back to their own math anxiety and discover the world of math anew!
