Bex Mui

Bex Mui is a biracial, first gen, queer, lesbian, cis femme organizer and consultant committed to the work of LGBTQ+ affirmation at the intersections of education, equity, and spirituality. She is currently the Director of the Stonewall National Education Program (SNEP), where she oversees and coordinates the professional development and educator engagement for the Stonewall National Museum and Archives.  Bex created the online class, Decolonzing Gender, for the Institute for Anti-Racist Education Institute, and focuses on an intersectional approach to LGBTQ+ integration.

Bex started her journey studying systems of oppression with a queer feminist lens at the College of New Rochelle where she received a B.A. in English and a certification for Elementary Education.  Dedicated to progressive education and facilitated learning, Bex chose Bank Street College to receive her Master’s in Education with a specialization in Literacy.  She worked for ten years as an elementary classroom teacher, primarily at a social-justice inclusion school, where she taught and developed LGBTQ+ inclusive lessons as an out queer educator. For five years, Bex worked as the Education Manager at GLSEN, a national non-profit organization LGBTQ support in K-12 schools. Bex has supported school, district, and national LGBTQ-inclusion and social justice initiatives and has conducted equity-themed professional development workshops for students, faculty, administrators, and families. Bex enjoys working with organizations and individuals to meet them where they are in terms of equity and LGBTQ+ inclusion, and helping them find the resources and support to make lasting changes.  Find out more about Bex on her website: BexMui.com.
