Jackie Bennett
Jackie Bennett taught high school English in New York City for eighteen years. When she joined the faculty of a K-12 school, she became interested in education issues from the early grades up, and recognized the need to encourage system-wide pedagogy that focused students directly on textual meaning. She found in the United Federation of Teachers a venue for bringing the expertise of classroom teachers to the school reform movement, and joined the staff in 2006. Through the UFT, she has been involved in many policy initiatives including middle school reform, school wide accountability initiatives, and teacher evaluation. She is a regular contributor to Edwize.org.
