In this legend, the author uses the struggles of a poverty stricken boy and his grandmother to show how even in their trials, the decision to do the right thing by helping others proves to be what changes the way of life for the boy and his grandmother. His ability and choice to follow directions given to him is what determines how successful the boy will be. (McGraw-Hill Treasures, 2009)
