Lisa Britten has 15 years of experience in public education and currently serves as the 6–12 Reading Specialist at Lee Middle & High School in Wyoming, Michigan. She strongly believes that all students should have access to a content-rich, inspiring curriculum that centers around culturally and historically responsive literacy practices. She comes to the Core Advocate Advisory Board through previous experiences in equity and literacy learning from Leading Educators. Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary English and Spanish and a master’s degree in K–12 Literacy Studies, both from Grand Valley State University, and is a certified K–12 reading specialist in the state of Michigan. She is currently pursuing a second master’s degree in TESOL from Aquinas College. Lisa and her husband Dave reside in Caledonia, Michigan.
