The work I do: I am the 6-12 Reading Specialist at Lee Middle & High School in Wyoming, MI.

My connection to the work of Student Achievement Partners: Lisa strongly believes that all students should have access to a content-rich, inspiring curriculum that centers culturally and historically responsive literacy practices. She comes to the Core Advocate Advisory Board through previous experiences in equity and literacy learning from Leading Educators. This is her second year as a member of the Educator Advisory Board.

The perspective I bring to the Educator Advisory Board: Lisa has 16 years of experience in public education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary English and Spanish and a master’s degree in K–12 Literacy Studies, both from Grand Valley State University, and is a certified K–12 reading specialist and Teacher of English as a Second Language in the state of Michigan. She is currently pursuing a second master’s degree in TESOL from Aquinas College.
