What I work on: As the Development Manager at Student Achievement Partners (SAP) I spend my days cultivating relationships, managing grant proposals, and creating materials that showcase SAP’s vision. And let me tell you, it's a powerful vision! We challenge K-12 academic standards, taking into account culturally relevant teaching and equitable classroom practice. We design tools and resources and offer professional learning opportunities all grounded in research and the realities of the classroom.

Why I work here: I work at Student Achievement Partners (SAP) because their mission aligns with my passion for supporting students from systematically underserved communities. As a product of the NYC public education system and 1st generation student, I know first-hand the challenges that many students from underserved communities face and the impact well-equipped educators can have in mitigating them. SAP's evidence-based literacy and mathematics guidance and resources center students and I want to be part of an organization taking a student-focused approach to help to close the opportunity gap.

My education and experience: After graduating from Union College in Schenectady, NY, I started my career in the education-focused nonprofit sector. I began as an AmeriCorps member, where I tutored and mentored elementary school students in East Baton Rouge Parish. My passion for education grew stronger, and I continued to work in the nonprofit sector as a program manager and director serving students, AmeriCorps members, teachers, and school leaders. After taking a career gap year to travel, I supported The Boston Foundation launching the Safety Net Grants program, which aimed to provide timely investment in organizations responding to immediate essential needs in marginalized communities.

More about me: At home, I have a furry baby named Appa who loves long walks, treats, and refusing cuddles despite being so obnoxiously cute.

One of my favorite things to do is to travel internationally. I find it fascinating to experience different cultures, try new foods, and meet new people. Most recently I have traveled to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Dubi, Zanzibar, & Victoria falls.
