This excerpt focuses on a sixteen year old boy, Marcus Ravage, who travels to America (New York) from Romania. He hopes to become rich right away. To his disappointment, he is faced with many challenges. Marcus Ravage is saddened when his aunt pushes him out to peddle on the streets of New York. He begins to earn money and adapt to his new life in America. Later he attends college and becomes a successful writer. (Pearson Reading Street, 2010)
