Two days after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Vice President Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as president. In this speech he acknowledged the loss of John F. Kennedy and the sadness that it brought to many people. Johnson’s speech commanded Congress to find the resolve in the midst of the sorrow to translate Kennedy’s ideas into action so that JFK would not have died in vain.
