Research shows that effective professional learning includes two characteristics: it’s regular/ongoing and it’s focused on classroom content. This webinar introduces the newly updated Instructional Practice Guide (versions available for ELA/literacy and math) as a tool for both professional goal setting, as well as structured coaching and self-reflection throughout the year. This webinar, which is applicable to both instructional coaches and classroom teachers, leaves participants with an understanding of how to use the Instructional Practice Guide to set goals around their classroom practice and make progress on those goals throughout the year. Participants will also  learn about two complementary tools--The Lesson Planning Tool and the Beyond the Lesson Discussion Guide.

In addition to the Instructional Practice Guides, which have been included in the handouts section of this page, this webinar makes reference to the Lesson Planning Tool and several articles from the Aligned blog.

This webinar offers a certificate verifying professional learning time on the topic. To receive this certificate, select the “Access On-Demand” option and complete the webinar as a registered participant.

This learning experience will be most powerful if used as part of a comprehensive, ongoing program of content-specific professional learning. To learn more, see the Professional Learning Principles.
